Default Hypertech Thermomaster Power Chip

Think these chips are any good? Just looking for feed back. Even if they only give me 20HP.

Are they claiming at least a 20 hp gain? I don't think you're going to get $138 worth of performance out of that chip. According to Hypertech's claims, it adjusts your air/fuel mix and spark advance. A richer fuel mix might give you some gain, but the engine management system (oxy sensors) are going adjust the fuel supply back to where it should be if they register too rich of a mix. Spark advance? You can do that yourself by turning the distributor counter-clockwise. Again, if timing is too far advanced, your knock sensor is going to pick that up and retard your timing back down. If you want a little boost in performance, advance your base timing some, and put premium gas in the tank so the knock sensor won't kick timing back as much. The only cost is you'll be paying more for gas, but h.p. is never (or rarely) free.

Save the $ for your swap. It'll come in handy. On a serious note, I've never known anyone thats used a chip and saw any seat of the pants gain from them. Like 69 stated, your computer takes over and for the most part "fixes" out of norm items that it usually controls.
