Default Hows this sound?

So how about this. My 91 rs 305 tbi camaro with auto. Im rebuilding the trans, putting in a shift kit, a high performance chip of some sort, lightweight pulleys, throtlle body spacer, either 3.73 or 4.10 rear gears, a msd blaster coil and a new msd cap and roter. So far all I've done is taylor 8mm wires and ngk splitfire plugs. What do u guys think about this combo and what should i expect out of them? You think Ill be able to take a stock rx8? Thanx.

Get a bigger throttle body, some matched flow injectors, a new intake manifold and a better exhaust, and your set. I would save the chip for last so you can get one matched to what you end up with.

Sounds alright, but if you want to make sure you get the performance you think you'll get, you need to match all systems in the engine. I used to bolt a part on thinking I'd notice a big difference but I realized I have to update other systems to match what I've upgraded. For example, if you bolt on new heads and install a better cam, you need a better intake to feed the heads and you need to increase the fuel supply for the increase in air flow. This is more expensive then buying one or two bolt ons yes, but it's the right way to get all of your performance. Sounds like you're on the right track. I can tell you from experience, the 305's are dogs compared to the 350, so if you could, I'd upgrade to that first. A stock 350 is a big improvement over a 305. It isn't the cheapest option though. Hopefully you stomp the RX8! Good luck!

If you get a stage II chip ( meaning you have aftermarket exhaust and minimal mods) itll give you like 25 more horses!!

Save your money on the tb spacer. Waste of money. As for the chip, I would recomend getting one programed for what you have to maximize the output. You might want a higher stall speed converter, I would've used NGK's Iridium spark plugs instead. Underdrive pullies are ok as long as you don't have a wooping system. If it's your daily driver, I'd recomend going with the 3.73 gear ratio.

i myself was thinkin about going to a 3.73 rear end. Is there a 3rd gen that came with that STOCK? if so, how will i know? I figure if it happend at all it would be in the IROC or the Z28. Im pretty much just lookin to bolt on, and maybe make a few necessary changes.

There's a list of RPO codes somewhere on this forum, that would likely be the easiest way to tell. If you do change your gear ratio at all, make sure you get new speedo gears. They don't cost much, and that'll ensure you still know exactly how fast you're going.

I don't think you could get 3.73 gears stock in 3rd gens. If you could it was probably older ones like 82-84. The only 3 I know of you could get was the 2.73 (usually in V6's), 3.23, and 3.45.

Hey 91_camaro, I know a guy who has several 350 blocks, 4-bolt blocks and 2-bolt. I'll see what he wants to sell and let you know how much.
