Default engine swap?

I havea 1991 Z28 305 tpi, I'm installing a carburated 350 and eliminating the whole computer.Now my trans is a 700r4 that i will have beefed up. Does eliminating the computer have any effect on the trans? and if so is there a way to correct this when the trans is rebuilt? I already know i'll be installing a switches to turn on the fuel pump and electric fans.

the only thing it will effect is the lock-up converter and your speedo won't work. the PCM sends the lock-up signal to the trans. but you can get a kit to make it work through Summit , and the PCm also controls the speedo because it is electronic. but you can get a speedo from a earlier Camaro and change the tailhousing on the trans to a mechanical sytle and add a cable and tada you got a speedo (or just put all aftermarket gauges in it and rock on).

so there is know way to get the stock speedometer to work without the computer? Does anyone make any electronics to hook the transmisson to the speedometer?

Dakota digital makes(or aleast they used to)a sending unitthat will work with the stock speedo , but the last time i checked it was very high dollar. almost as much as a Autometer Speedo and Tach combined.

you could just swap the tailshaft housing and run a cable to a mechanical speedo, sounds easy enough. 4 bolts and a hole, then swap speedos
