Question engine problems, NEED HELP!

i just went today to look at a 92 camaro rs, its not a bad car overall and the owner started it up and it ran just fine, we took it for a spin and got back and thats when i noticed the "knocking" in the engine, i was told by my friend that it could b the fuel pump, but the owner got it checked out and it turns out it might need new bearings(upper or lower) or a new lifter?, i didnt know exactly what he meant, any help would b great, also i'd like to know what to expect to pay in order to get it fixed, the car has the 306tbi in it, thanks for the help!

With an engine that age with a knock you would want to do a complete rebuild or a crate motor. I don't know what deal you made but you can fine 92 RS 's that has a lot of life left in them for less then that rebuild would cost. Leave that car for someone that can do their own work.
