Default Emissions control system?

So my boyfriend took his 1984 z28 to get inspected yesterday, and the guys at merchants said that the entire emissions control system [under the hood, exhaust excluded] was missing. Honestly, we're not sure what this consists of and what we need to get it. Does anyone know exactly what all goes under the hood for the ECS, and any ideas on places to get said parts?

where do you live? any way to get around it because of vehicle age? at the least, the emissions would be egr valve, pcv valve, catalytic convertor, and evap canister. could also have an air pump, and may be required.

We live in Virginia, and we looked into getting antique or vintage tags, but antique limits how much you can drive, and vintage still requires the inspection sticker.

well, sounds like you will either need to add the stuff, or set it aside as a project to get it emissions standards or use it for recreation only

Do it the right way. First, what kind of setup does that car have? Q-jet, TBI, or somebody's cobbled together probobly too big carb? Once you know what setup it should have, then you can go from there.
