Electric Fuel pump--->Mechanical

Electric Fuel pump--->Mechanical
My 86 Z28 was originally equipped with an electronic fuel pump....in tank sending unit...the question is whether or not there is an alternate tank insert for the mechanical fuel pump that will still work with the gas gauge???

Why do you want to use a mechanical pump instead of the electric. Is the electricpump dead, and are you running a carb. and not injection?

Just take a air hose in the fuel line to break the seal in the fuel pump, then you can mount a mechanical pump to the engine.

I'm runnin a carb and the guy before me rigged it for a carb so the fuel gauge wasn't working and he had the main fuel line plugged and was sucking fuel up the return line...... so I have to run new fuel line and I currently have the tank out of the car.... the pump was plugged in and the tank was empty but the gauge read full so either the gauge or the pump is shot or both....I gonna get an aftermarket gauge cluster but I need to figure out what to do about the in tank sending unit because I don't reallywant toestimate fuel by the odometer...lol
