Default Electric fan?

I have a 1990 RS and I can only get my coolant fan to come on if I select a/c on my dash control? is there a pressure switch that controls this function? any help at all would be really appreciated.

Normally the fan does not come on till temp gets to about 200 degrees or so. Is car getting hot?? fan does have its own temp sensor to turn it on.

the oem temp switch is around 245 for the fans to come. if it is comming on with the a/c, thats normal. its a high temp, but thats what they ran them at to meet emissions.

Thanks a-lot for the reply! I have had the car parked for 5 years and just got it out of the garage so it's doing a few things i dont remeber, I thought the fan would continue to run after the car was up to temp and the car was shut off if it was too hot (just seems like the gauge is climbing higher than before) ? thanks again for your posts I didn't expect to get such a prompt reply.
