Default Egr valve question

I recently bought a 85 Chevy Camaro berlinetta with a 305. I rebuilt carb because it was backfiring and I figured it might help. It did help. But I removed EGR valve to soak with carb parts and when I popped off vacuum line to egr valve a little check ball came out with it. Any idea why there would be a check valve on the line connector blocking vacuum to the egr valve? I’m still getting poor acceleration from a complete stop and I’ve replaced all vacuum lines and I’m unsure about the check ball in the fitting for egr, I wanna remove but I’m uncertain as to it’s function. Any ideas?

I see that colt proprietors use EGR restrictor plates, do they make restrictor plates for a 92 F-150 or do I need to manufacture a plate? Likewise, I had a no beginning circumstance managing an awful EGR valve that was staying shut, is it an absolute necessity to have or would I be able to sidestep it too? Tutuapp 9Apps Showbox
