DO NOT rip it off. Its not hurting you if its working correctly. But its not helping either. Im in Missouri and i need it. So check with local laws before you rip any of that emissions equipment off.

Like 350rs asked, what is gouing on? Is it getting a lot of carbon build up. vacuum diaphram going bad? Is it the electric one on a 3.1 V6?

Maybe im just used to Ohio's relaxed smog laws, but what is really the point of having it on? Just take it off and put a block off plate over it, and then you wont ever have to worry about it again. Of course it could throw a code, but that is the only problem I foresee...

My point is, if he isnt in a state that requires it, just forget it. Arent cars exempt from smog anyways once they reach 25 years old and become legally a classic?
