ECM to distributor wire?
I'm going to possibly buy a 91 Z28 Camaro. The guy selling it claims that there is a wire that runs from the ECM to the distributor that is bad. He said it affects the starting of the car and that it if replaced will make the car run a lot stronger/faster. Is what this guy saying true? Is this an easy fix? How much am I looking at spending?

RE: ECM to distributor wire?
Look at the harness around the HVAC box. There may be a tan wire unpluged. That comes from the dizzy to the computer andunplugs to adjust time.
As for what he is saying true. I don't know the guy. He may be a liar!
How much to fix? I don't know exactly what is wrong or the shop labor rate in your area.

RE: ECM to distributor wire?
Ya the dude is a lying POS. My brother and I went up to look at the car on Friday night. The interior and exterior were immaculate. We went to drive the car and we couldn't get it to do more then 40mph!!! He claimed it was because this wire was bad that GM supposedly recalled back in 96.He claimed he replaced the ECM and an EGR valve and said this wire only costs like $30.We couldn't figure out why he wouldn't have replaced it back when he swapped out the ECM ifthe wireonly costs $30.Anyway the kid didn't realize my bro and I have worked on cars in the past and we knew when a tranny was slipping. We basically told him several times when we were driving it that the tranny was slipping and we could smell the thing burning up.I ended up not getting it. Then he text messaged me last night saying that he replaced the wire and the car just did 129mph on hwy 255, which is funny bcuz the speedometer on the thing only goes up to 110mph! I hate nothing more then a liar.
