coolant temp sensor
does anyone have a pic or a detailed position of the coolant temp sensor they could inform me on, lso the same for the relay... i have been reading an awful lot of bad things about the cooling fan of the 92 rs's....so would it be a bad idea to just wire the fan to something that starts when the car starts?

RE: coolant temp sensor
The Engine Coolant Temp sensr (ECT) is mounted on either on the thermostat housing or on the front of the intake manifold, depending on model. Do not confuse the ETC with the temp gauge sensor. The ETC has 2 wires, the Yellow wire goes to the PCM, and the Black wire goes to ground. In some models the fan is directly controlled by a thermoswitch which applies a ground to the fan relay when the goolant gets hot enough, and in some others the ETC signal is read by the PCM and the PCM applies ground to the fan relay.
If the fans don't go on when needed you should find the problem and fix it, rather than wiring up a bypass switch.

RE: coolant temp sensor
I have the same issue with my 92 v6. I bought it and finally realized that it was rigged to run all the time which I hate w a passion. It sucks to hear it all the time and in the long run its gonna kill ur alternator. Ive replaced everything, sensorwise, and still no luck. So my next thing is going to be new wires between everything and see if its not a bad connection somewhere or if it's the computer. I have no codes popping up on mine and she runs around 190ish. Just tired of hearing the fan all the time. Let me know if u come up w anything.
