There are two temp senders on the car. One is on the head, it is for the temp gauge or light. The other is on the manifold, It is for the computer and works the fan through the computer. It might be read improper causing the fan to not work but not letting the computer know it is faulty. That is were a scanner would be handy to see what the sensor says to actual temp.
I sent you a PM if it is not working for either of us and you want some help you can e-mail me

Default RE: coolant fan not working

OK y' All... I am the original poster of this particular coolant fan problem thread for the 3rd gen's. ANd, the problem is as of yet not quite fixed:

This is what I have done (and I just got around to doing it today, because I was certain that I had the sure-fix based on the presenting symptoms & from the help of the other members of this site, and also because I have been putting it off, due to the other factors discussed below = $):

I have replaced/switched out the (black & Yellow wire) coolant sensor on the intake manifold (the one that sends the signal to the computer that the temp is too high, or high enough to validate the use/turning on of the fan! Well, as I said, this did not solve the problem...

WHAt Next? If you read above, you will see what is known in regards to my particular case, and may see something that I do not?

My understanding: Is that when I disconected the black/yellow wire c. sensor, and it resulted in my fan operating (constantly, at any temp), that-that was an indication of everything else being in perfect working order, besides for the sensor (the one with the black & yellow wire/coolant s.) being faulty/innapropropriately operating? As we know now, that is not the case... I thought that the relay would be good? I mean, as long as that c sensor was disconnected, and everything else worked! Would the relay be at fault still if this scenario was true for your camaro? If the relay was bad, would the override (safe-mode-factor still work when the black/yellow wire coolant sensor was disconnected, or could it still be a causative factor (the relay)? I don't know?

I want this fixed...... Please help. Any advice appreciated!

Cat converter, new tires, shocks/struts, air c. needs converted, window tint, louvers, new floor mats, re-fabric all seats/doors/ceiling/floor carpeting, spark plugs & wires, fuel filter, and various other things, to include T-Tops are on order at the moment...and I can finally do those things one at a time throughout the next two months, and this fan problem IS ANNOYING AS HELL, and I want to get it straitened out as soon as possible now! Because, I thought I had the fix, and I did not... It was a good try, but not succesful... And, I just got the funds the other day to do all of the rest of the work that I just mentioned, and I am ready to role! I do not want a manually operated coolant fan (by switch).

Thank you in advance, and I'll keep Y' All informed...

Later, Ian
