Choke heater

RE: Choke heater
Well if you have a factory carbed Camaro (82-87) and the choke light comes on it could very well be a charging system problem. When the alternater is putting out power it will energize the choke system. This way the choke will not warm up and open with only the key left on.

Hook it up and without the engine running, maybe try it both way with key on engine off and key off, check for power at the choke. Without it running there should be none. Maybe the choke relay fused inside and is stuck

Ok so I know I have a good alt, batt, and cables. I replaced the choke relay and now the car runs off the batt. Before it would die in less than one min. My problem is that the alt isn't charging. I know it is a good alt because I watched it on the testing machine at adavance. What causes the volt reg. to not charge?

Do you have a fuseable link between the alternator and battery? Maybe on a jubction block by the battery. May be corroded inside. Tug on the links a little.
Without it running and key off hook a test light to the batt terminal or the alt and see if it lights. If not there is a short in the wire to the battery.
