Carb
I have the new Elderbrock performer 600cfm carb on my 400smb. The guys that had the car before me put to much fuel pressure to it and blew out the power valve so now it just dumps gas in the intake. Any ideas on how to fix it or should I get a new one. Ive been told that it is hard to replace this because it is all incased in wax. Not for sure I am dumb when it comes to carbs. I am on a budget and really do not want to go buy a new one but im getting gas in my oil. Can anyone help?

What? Just rebuild carb, power valve easy to change, they have different ones so make sure you get same one as old one.
What do you mean by too much pressure? Does it have mechanical or electric pump? Could just be float level is too high. Gas in oil not good

They convert a fuel injected car to carb and had the fuel regulator set at 15 pounds of fuel so it messed the car up and im going through fixing the problems. I had someone look at it and he said he could not fix it. I do not know what rebuild kit to buy.

Edelbrocks like the fuel pressure set at 4.5 lbs. Definitely keep it under 5.

Because with too much fuel pressure, the needle and seat can't hold the gas back, the carb is overflowing, raw gas is pouring down the cylinders, running past the rings, and down into the crankcase. That's not good for the engine, so don't run it any more until you fix your fuel problem.
I have already lowered it to 4 pounds the other day it is getting the fuel pressure it wants. I also changed the oil I was just wondering how much **** this guy was blowing me. I think the problem is fixed. I know it did have a bad seal on the accelerator pump and replaced it. I do not think it is broke but that is what he told me and that i need a new carb. I think all i need now is a port and pollished intake to getter better air flow. All I have is the stock cast iron one. Thank you for your help and sorry if I was not clear enough on my problem. I read that now and realized I was not clear on what I was trying to say. But thank you for showing me that they have now power valve. That means I should be good on the carb.
