Would you happen to be in California? Is the car shifting? Is it an automatic? Maybe its stuck in fourth. Could you get it up to any speeds?

 

I'm in Arizona, the car shifts, it is an automatic and I can get up to speed somtimes.

 

WellI guess offering to plug it into my scanner would be out of the question.
The check engine light does come on when you first turn the key on though right? So you know the bulb is not burned out for it.

Have you ever done a fuel injector flush, not the stuff you put in the tank alone? You might also have sludge or carbon holding your valves open a little. Go to a dealership and try some GM top engine cleaner, its about $9 and follow the directions to a "T". Your car will smoke like there is no tomorrow but hang in there it will go away. It's going to clean out all of the carbon in the powertrain. Have you taken the valve covers off the car to see if any sludge is in there?

would I have to do a flush if the injectors are new? No I have not removed the valve covers, butI will.
