Can someone tell me what kind of engine this is?
I'm thinking of purchasing a '92 rs anniversary from a salvage yard. There isn't much info on the car. There is pics, and it states it's a 5.0 but the pic of the engine looks different than what I'm used to. I'm pretty sure it's an engine swap, but I can't tell what kind it is (novice over here) I noticed the reservoirs are missing and so is the air conditioning unit. Any help will be appreciated. I attached the image of the engine bay; thanks.

The engine, or at the very least the heads, are 1986 or older. 87 and newer engines had center bolt valve cover heads. A TBI engine can look like it has a carburetor, but this one, with where the vacuum hoses are going and the pressure gauge, looks like a carb setup. To know exactly what engine it is, you need to look up some numbers:

looks like a 350 ,wich would be better then the 305 ,most 3rd gen cars ,can stand a nice engine swap ,there actaully some of the best cars for swaps ,as the hp from 305 among many other weak issues with gm 305 cars ,unless your talking about fords 302 ,sad but true the 80s mustangs for the most part ruled over the camaro an the boss 302 was the engine to have an still highly liked though the ls engine has gone far past it as well ,then the camaro made a nice come back with the 4th gen car in 93,then again in 98 with the ls1,though the 92 the right one some had the lt1 engine ,that one does not look stock ,the 305 had alot more hp then early 3 gens ,the right verions of the heritage edtion can be very rare as le1 lt1 b4c cars ,some had AC Delete ,an as well another thing was radio Delete z03 would be something to look for on heritage edition

like 69 says look up the numbers. its a pre 97 small block chevy which means it could be anything from a 265 to a 350, even a 383 or 406 if its been stroked, then you wont know without more info or tear it down.

Prolly not a 265 or early 283,they didn't have bolt holes for the side motor mounts but just about any other mouse motor 283-400 is possible.
