camaro wont start

Refresh us on your set up. I suspect a vacuum leak.

perhaps a silly question but with or without the air cleaner on?

at both times. and the guy i bought it from plugged off the vaccum lines so i have no vaccum on the car

whistling or squealing, it's all in the ears of the beholder

using a timing light correctly set your timing

then, at idle, if you hear the whistling, spray a little starter fluid near around intake manifold to see if the idle increases. If so, you found a vacuum leak
