Brakes
i own a 89 camaro z28 and i have been having a problem with my brakes. ever since i got the car i have noticed a slight pull to the right under heavy braking. i have put on 1500 miles since i got the car and bleed the brakes somewhere in the middle of that time. recently the pull to the right has gotten much worse and today it was so bad that it was hard to steer under LIGHT braking, when braking i could damn near make a right hand turn the pull was so bad. after the car sat for 5hours i drove home and the car seemed normal (only pulled to right under heavy braking). any ideas of whats going on? air in the lines to opposite brake? bad pads? Once i got home i jacked up the car and both wheels didnt spin too freely, could that just be that the calipers arent releasing all the way? ANY help and ideas for fixing it would be appreciated thanks
you may have a dragging caliper
Do you think a dragging caliper would cause crazy brake dust to build up on the wheel. My driverside covered and the passenger side isn't. I just washed both wheels like a month ago. I don't have any major pulling when I brake.
A piston could have seized up on one of your left side brakes. This happened to my Datsun 280ZX. it used to pull to the right under any kind of braking so i checked all of the brakes with a buddy of mine and found that the left rear caliper wasnt clamping down all the way.
Pistons can seize and the caliper sliders (this car uses floating calipers) can rust up and prevent the calipers from centering themseves about the rotor causing the pads to drag or not apply evenly. Take the brkes apart, they won't get fixed by talking about them.
