If you are going to do the brake line youself and you need to cut it down make sure you get a double flareing tool for the ends and do it right if you don't have onealready they are pertty cheap.

I second the opinion just replace the cylinder. I delayed replacing the cylinders on an oldsmobile I was driving. only half the brakes worked. Was fine until the other half went out in a parking lot with un-even levels. The 10' drop down a landscaped area from one parking area to another was not a fun ride when the rest of the breaks went out. Or the 45 min drive home with no brakes. Take it form someone who delayed fixing breaks because I was being cheap. Just fix it, fix it right and you won't have to spend any money for quite a while on brakes.

my line wasnt too bad to get out i had to get it off to take out my rear end mine wasnt rusted or anything but i sprayed with some wd40 when i first started working on pulling the rear end so it could penetrate
