92 tranny trouble

just bought a 92 camaro rs with a 305tbi/700r4. was doing fine for a few days then today it started shifting funny....wouldn't get outta first til 4500, second 3500, and would not go into 4th??? what's wrong????

Not to hip on trans but I think maybe a sticky govener. Pop that round cover off at the rear of the trans and make sure it works smooth and the springs and weights are in tact. Look out for fluids.

it sounds like to me the lockup solenoid is unplugged. check the connection where it plugs into the tranny. make sure it isn't corruded or has any broken wires. if not the solenoid itself may be bad. sick

I thought it might have been the kick down cable, or wide open trottle valve.... I've heard 700r4's are bad about the wot valve sticking causing this problem...I'm not used to working on this new of a model, so i'm kinda lost.....

Great....dunno what i did wrong, tried the kick down cable adjustments....now the car won't shift unless you rev it up to 7000rpms......which is pretty surprising it doesn't grenade since it has over 200,000 miles on the (i assume) factory 305....lol
