'92 Camaro Hatch Question
Hello all......
From what I've come to understand, there were 40,000+ hatch release buttons on the '92 Camaro. I just bought this car 2 months back and am curious if mine has it and if it does, where is it located?

Ok cool, I'll take a look this morning and hopefully the original owner didn't skip on that option.
I bought the car for 1k from one of those Auto Donation For Charity places and so far the only thing I need to replace if the oil pan(bought it, have to install it next week).
The salesman had lost the door/hatch key so I hope for the best when I take it out that no one is going to jack it or lift parts from it. I've gone to two locksmiths and they both told me that they'l have to strip the door down to install a new lock. I was like WTF?, and then told them that this was a Camaro and not some crappy little honda and they just shrugged.
I guess the only safe bet is at the Chevy dealer, but I have a feeling that's gona run a few hundred bucks.

to replace the locks?? u can get the whole set with keys from classic industries, or a decent locksmith could make you th ekey for it
Ok, I'll keep looking for a good locksmith. On a side note....I looked for close to twenty minutes today for that hatch release, but it's no where to be found, and there's no key hole to open it?
This is so bizarre, where the hell is this thing?

no keyhole? shouldnt it be behind the liscense plate? otherwise if you do have the release it would be between the power window buttons i think
The license plate won't move; it's bolted onto the back of the Camaro in its proper spot, and the assembly won't move either. This sucks!
I'll do some more hunting tomorrow. Thanks for the suggestions so far.

ok here's what you gotta do. it sounds like the plate holder is rusted to that position. get some rust penetraiter and put it on the hinges at the bottom of the plate holdergive it a minute to soak in and the start trying to move it. and to tell you now they arent going to be able to help you in a dealer unless you take one of the lock sylenoids out. if you do that then it would be alot easier on everyone and you would get your key. locksmiths have to take the lock sylenoid out so they can cut a key. all you have to do is take the door panel off and then take the spacers out that hold in place. then you need to just take it out.
