Default 89 rs engine help!

Hi! I'm new to this forum stuff and need some help. I have an 89 RS with a 305, 5 speed manual, T-Tops and A/C and cruise. I would love some advice on what would be some good, affordable upgrades for my old motor. I drive my car everywhere and don't plan on taking it to a track for a while. Everything in the motor is stock. I want to add a little more power to go with the nice sounding Edlebrock flowmaster exhaust. I have a little car knowledge but not a ton. I plan on doing as much of the work myself as possible with the help of some of my mechanic friends. Any advice I could get would be greatly appreciated.

K&N intake and flow master muffler and either weld it in or use the jerry rigged muffler clamp. Cam would be a nice step up and also a tune up would help. Upgrading the ignition is still rather cheap for that motor.
