Wtfack. Is there any diagnostics I can do to see if I need a new pump?

Can i install int myself? what weird things would i have to know b4 doing so?

Damn its been a while, love this forum.

5.7L stock

To get the obvious things out of the way.... is the belt to the pump still there? Have you checked the fluid level in the reservoir?

yes yes. can i just take it off and take it apart, clean it and see if that fixes it. just a stuck valve or something?

Where are you located? It's strange that the p.s. worked when parked, and not now after sitting six months. If perhaps you got moisture in the fluid that settled in a line, and then froze, that could do it. If you're somewhere warm though, there goes that thought.

that sounds like a possibility i guess but my 87 z28 was parked right behind it for the same time and works fine.

am i going to through off adjustments if i go ahead and take it off and try and clean it or replace it?

You won't throw off any adjustments (assuming you're referring to alignment) by removing the pump and/or steering box. But before doing anything that drastic, I would first get the car in a warm garage, let it heat up a while, siphon out or flush the old p.s. fluid, and put in new. Moisture, inactivity, and freezing temps can cause problems that you may otherwise not have when warm.
