I have a 90 3.1 rs I was thinking about getting a 4th gen donar car for an interior swap but was wondering ifI couldalso use a 4th gen v8 and tranny and possibly the rear axle? Any help would be great, Thanks in advance

 

there are ls1 swap kits for the engine mounts and the new tranny mounts you will need. and the rear is 1" wider on each side for a total of 2" too wide. But i think if your planning on useing an LT1, you can use regular SBC mounts.

Ive seen the full interior swap from a 4th gen to a 3rd, looks sweet. I thought about it for a little bit but dismissed because of the work.

I think the stock 3rd gen interior looks great.

 

it does when its clean, but the 4th gen interior in a 3rd gen looks pretty sweet too.

 

The hardest part would be hooking up the wiring for the engine, you need the ECM, wiring harness, and possibly interior harness and a 4th gen steering column.

 

why would he need the column? if hes just putting in a 4th gen motor, he will need the correct wireing and computer yea. but whats the column have to do with anything?? Aside from maybe the VATS system, which could be over run fairly easy. thats if it dosent have its own setup completely seperate from the computer, which i assume it does.

 

Its because of the electrical connections, I am not positive, but it may or may not be true.

 

I guess it depends on what all hes wanting to do. Are you gona do a FULL dash from the 4th gen too?

 

I was thinking the dash too, I know with the SRT-4 engine swap into 1st gen neons you have to used the gauge cluster because of the computer system, for example.
