Ok guys I went ahead and bought the complete vehicle for 2500 just so everything would be easier I have one issue that I am worried about. The tail shafts are different.
There is no mounting bolts for the torque bar thing that goes to the axle
Is this a nessary componet?

if so....
Would it be easy to find a different driveshaft that I can swap in...if so which one?
Or do I have to take the transmission apart and change the tailshafts?

Update:
Getting ready to pull the engine and transmission from the camaro...
Turns out that I don't have a 383...:-(
it is in fact a 400sbc to 406
I took the valve cover off and noticed that it had some ****ty roller lifters maybe from some other stock motor(lt1?)
I will be changing the front shocks ,sway bar links, wires, tires and anything else I can find

One ? is the engine wiring easy to pull out without effecting the ac wiring alt. wiring?
Thanks

You thought you had a 383 but it's a 406. Why the frowny face then?

just carefully disassemble the factory wiring and leave what you need behind. i take it you are running carb? if so, just swap the wiring harness over from another carb or tbi car. you could make about $500 selling the tpi intake, ecm, and wiring harness all together

Ok update....
I have the car almost complete with an exception of exhaust from the cats to the rear.
I installed a electric fuel pump and removed the old one.
I also removed the tpi wiring harness and it wasn't as hard as I was thinking I didn't have to cut any wires
(I will sell the entire setup for $300 includes the ecu which I don't know the condition but it says its remanufactered)

I am a little frustrated because the performance seems not as good as it was in the donor car which was 5200 lbs
I think it could be due to the wires or plugs so I plan on changing them...
I don't know what cam I have, but it is really lumpy

Where should I aim for in reguards to timing?
I'm at 12 btc
thanks
-Rick
Ps I'm in need of a rear Iroc rim if anyone knows of one..

Ok need some advice!
After driving my ride for 15 minutes or so starts to die like its running out of gas, if I turn it off for a minute it will restart after priming the pump!
I thought the pump was bad so I changed it...with the same results!

Could it be the carb?
That guy helping istalled the dist. 180 backwards so it did backfire a couple of times until I figured it out!
Let me know what you think! I will be buying a accel coil and new plugs tommorrow for it!
thanks!
