My buddy's got a 90' Vette with a 350 TPI pushing around 325 HP and makes about the same gas mileage as me, maybe a littlebetter and I have a 305 TBI. Just a thought.

I'd have to see it to believe it.

throttle body: http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/store...50758_-1_11175
i cant help you with the rest of the valve train parts, i dont know much about them for this car for the required size. im sure someone else here can help
airfoil: http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/store...52203_-1_11175
i also suggest an adjustable fuel pressure regulator: http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/store...61135_-1_11175

jegs has a great selection on tpi parts listing, and a lot more listed elsewhere. i found all the parts by ordering a catalog and just going through the whole thing. http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/store...11175_-1_10015

and for siamesing the ports: http://sethirdgen.org/TPIbase.htm

theres also a few summer time things that can help, like a throttle body bypass. thats a cheap $5 hose and fitting, and takes 20 minutes to do for about 5 hp. just read through the articles on these websites:

I'd have to see it to believe it.
He makes about 25 mpg highway. He bought the block from Jasper and we put it together. He added some mods, not sure exactly what, I can find out if you want. But it's got a little over 300 horses maybe not 325 exact and still makes decent gas mileage. Tuned ports manage fuel a lot better than the TBIs. If your around PA we'd be happy to show you.

More HP will get better milage because its pulling easier than the car with the less HP. When you take off from a light with your V* and there is an old four banger next to you who do you think is pressing harder on the gas pedal to achieve the same speed.

I'm going to have to both agree and disagree. I'll explain.

V8:

pros:

1. takes little throttle to move the car
2. can be choked down to get better econ.

cons:

1. when you step on it, you can watch your fuel needle drop

4cyl:

pros:

1. good overal drivability
2. not a whole lot of power to be had. There's enough for what the car is designed for, though
3. get the cars both up on the highway and see what's going on. My Honda can get nearly 40MPG running 80MPH.

cons:

1: leadfoot kills econ, and is usually required for passing fast traffic or merging
2: not much reserve power on tap. There's enough for what the car is designed for, but some people don't find it to be enough.

For pure econ, I'll buy an older civic CX or VX. 50MPG, no fancy hybrids or anything. For pure power, I want some *****.

I have a lot of research to do when I start my buildup. I'm thinking about a swap, but I don't want something as thirsty as a 350. I need to pick up some reading material and learn what I can build with various longblock combonations.

There are a lot more pros' and cons' you missed. All I was trying to accomplish was an easy explain as to why more HP does not always mean less MPG.
