i have a 1991 camaro z28 with a 305 tpi and automatic trans, i am looking to swap it out with a 383 stroker. i have a 350 4 bolt block that i got from a friend, i am curious as to if the top end and acessories will bolt up the new block? i am assuming that i am goin to need a new torque converter and bigger gears for the rear, will the 700r4 hold up?. Can anyone think of anything else i might need, or any problems im goin to run into. any insight would be appreciated

 

rebuild you trans for sure, and get a shift kit...

 

I am in the process of doin the same swap.
I am rebuilding my tranny, and putting in a stall. (not sure how big yet)
I am also getting a new rear end with 373 gears.
From what I understand all the acessories will bolt right back on.

 

your accesories will bolt up to the 383. The 700 will hold up to it as long as your not bashing it around all the time.

 

if I can make a th350 stand up to a 454 for a few beatings then the 700 will take the 383.

 

meh, you got a wimpy 454 though.. lol[:'(][:'(]

it should be fine. but you may consider a rebuild if it hasnt been done recently

 

i think that the 383 uses a 400 crank so you will need a new flywheel and harmonic balancer for a 400 engine everything else is the same
