Default 305 to 350 starter problem

I am conducting an engine swap in my 92 rs. I am trading out my worn out 305 TBI for a built 350, early 80's. I had to purchase a new flywheel to fit in my T5 trans bellhousing. Everything else is great. I am having a starter issue. The bolt pattern on the 350 is staggered. The bell housing only has a 2 in opening for the starter to fit into. and the fly wheel is 153 tooth. I guess they don't make starters with a staggered mount and 2 in cones. I have been told to drill it, but I am not sure enough with myself to do that, and I don't know if the starter gear will even make contact with the flywheel after it is mounted. Will the starter I had for the 305 even turn over a 350?? Do I need a new tranny?? ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED!!!
