Default 1991 Camaro RS V6 3.1L (Overheat)

Yesterday my car overheated so badly that my car started to make a whistling noise(like a teapot) then i smelled gas and my car shut off...and i could barely get it to crank after that i had to let it sit for an 1hr and half before i could move it..What is going on?

Sounds like you messed up your engine. Overheating can cause all sorts of bad things to happen, like warped heads, blown gaskets, poor lubrication leading to spun bearings, etc.. Your car has a temperature gauge, but have you ever looked at it or cared about what the temperature was.

Just because the obvious signs arent there doesnt mean **** aint broke. Best bet would be to not drive it and do a heavy inspection on the heads, radiator, and other "top end" components. Maybe you can trouble shoot for a vapor lock issue. I dont know this engine very well, so if anyone else has any better advice, take it first. I'm just saying what I would start out with.

The cooling fan turns on/is supposed to turn on when the engine hits 228 degrees. Having the temperature climb up a bit in traffic is perfectly normal. Having the gauge read past 230-ish isn't.
