Unhappy 1989 Camaro

About a month ago I bought a Freshly painted 89 Camaro Rs V6. It was T-boned about a week ago, everything is good but the body. I was looking into just buying a body and dropping in the engine, then taking whatever salvagable from the old body. But I dont know if the body being a different year will give me any problems, will the driveshaft? I was looking at a 83 body as well as an 84, and 91. Please help?

I don't understand what you're trying to accomplish. Is is just minor body damage, or is the "frame" bent. Even so, most everything is repairable. It sounds like you want another car to drop your current V6 in, is that the case?

Most sheet metal is the same from 82-92. There are differences in the front clips and ground effects. Other than that you should be in the clear there.

Yes, the frame was bent. I was looking at some bodys for sale. Can I also take my existing motor mounts and transmission mounts from the car and install them into the new body or do you think i will need new ones if the car body was an original v8?

Personally I would sell it as a parts car and get a new V6 Third Gen. A lot less bull **** involved. Not trying to put you down but I have done stuff like this before and you are probably better off doing it that way.

i second mitchell. there is too much invovled for what you want to do to be logical from a monetary stand point. my suggestion would be to possibly buy a v6 or v8 car that needs body work or interior work, and swap over parts from your wrecked car. im not sure if you prefer the v6 over the v8, but i think most people would prefer a v8 either way.
