1988 camaro wiring problem

on the '89 I had (305) the coil was separate. Do you have spark coming from the coil?

I still think you have a short somewhere, either present or waiting to strike on you....again
Connect a test meter to the + terminal of the coil and see if you have 12 volts there.
Your coil could also have taken a crap. Or, if you had a serious short (the one that blew the fusible link), you could have toasted the ignition module that's inside the distributor.

I'm not sure. How do I check?

I'll check to see if I'm getting anything and I'll check the ignition control module. How do I know if the ignition control module is bad

The first test would be to check for spark at your spark plugs/wires. If nothing, then the next test is to replace the ignition module. This is assuming you have power going into, and coming out of the coil.

Remove a spark plug wire, and a plug unless you have an extra one. Connect plug to wire, hold threaded end of plug against a good engine ground, and have someone crank the engine over. You might want to grab the plug gently with a pliers on the porcelain, to prevent your hair from curling!

Got the car running last night. It was a lose wire connection. Thanks for all the advice
