Default 1988 camaro wiring problem

Hi, I got a 1988 camaro and recently the car died on me and every time I try to start I get nothing I don't hear a click or anything. Could that be a bad starter. Please help

Could be that the alternator died and the battery went flat. Have you tried a new battery or a jump start?

Well I tried jump starting it and another battery but still nothing. I noticed one of the wires running down to the starter was melted so I fixed it and I'm still getting nothing when I turn the key I don't even hear the fuel pump or anything. Where might the next place I should check. Thanks for your help again

Well I replace the starter and I finally got the car running again but not for long. I went out yesterday to start up and nothing. The car would crank but wouldnt start. I can see the injectors spraying gas into the tbi. What should I do now. Oh the car has new plugs, wires, cap & rotor, and ignition control module. Any advice.

Melted against the exhaust, or did it melt on it's own out of the clear blue? Was that a fusible link (lump in the wire)? You would have a major short in your electrical system if it's the main supply wire that's melting on it's own (if that's the wire and that's what it did).

It doesn't fire up at all. It just cranks. The wire melted on its on and I belive it was a fusible link. I cut the bad wire and replaced it and it doesn't melt anymore. My guess is it's not getting spark but I don't know where I should start looking.

The fusible link is the "sacrificial lamb" of the electrical system. It's designed to melt/blow before something important burns, which prevents an electrical fire due to a short. If you replaced the link with a regular wire, watch out for smoke. But, the smoke signals will make it easier to find your short!

I haven't seen any smoke or smelt burning wire since I replace it with regular wire. Thanks for the tip. Still need need to know where to start with the no spark issue thought. Any ideas?
