10 Bolt Rear End
i am looking for a 10 bolt rear end for my 1988 camaro. unfortunatly the car was stolen and recovered and when this happened the previous owner put a piece of **** mopar rear in it. and it just so happens its a little 7" something but anyway if you know of any one that i can get a 10 bolt rear end from please tell me. Thanks
Your local salvage yard would be your best bet. Any 3rd gen rear from a camaro/firebird v6 or v8 will fit with out a problem. Best choice would be a 9-bolt from 1989 being the best and having the better rear discs. 28 spline axle shafts and limited slip.
Also I think you are mistaken about a Mopar 7 rear being on the car. For one they would not fit without major mods, also the 10-bolt rear has only a 7 1/2 or 7 5/8 dia ring gear.

i really dont think it is a stock rear end or even a chevy becuase the way they put the rear sway bar on was really jerry rigged. they used exhaust hangers to hold it to the rear end. and the thing is that this rear end has a soft drain plug in it. the only one to put in a soft plug was mopar thats why i think it is a mopar rear end. to answer your question about if they are good, well i have built 355 in my camaro and i've done some pretty nasty burn outs and yes i have raced and it has held up great but i'm getting ready to give it an attitude change if you know what i mean! and i need that extra strenght out back. Thanks for the information.
If you decide to keep the rear, and want to do away with the rubber plug, I have a chrome cover with a metal plug for a BW 9 bolt, I'll sell it to you for $15 plus shipping, and it's still in the box.
ok thanks i didnt know that because i only seen soft plugs in mopars. my next question is how much power can the bw hold? oh and to answer your question it's a 350
but its def. not stock! thanks for all of the info.
there arent any codes under the console i think but ill have to go out to my storage tonight and check so ill get back to you with the codes.

The BW 9-bolt was used on most 350TPI & 305TPI (5sp) cars as it was stronger then the 10-bolt.
Big difference was no "c" clips. 7.750 dia ring gear, 4 side pinins, stronger limited slip and later 28 spline ax Last year on production cars was le shafts. It came wiith only (3) gear ratios, 2:77 std on 350 cars, 3:27 option on 350 cars and 3:45 on 5sp cars. Early years did have a 3:08 & 3:70 ratios. Again it is a better rear then the 10-bolt, but was discontinued in 1989 as too expensive by GM. One disadvantage is that parts are to find.
