Default **Battery Problems**

Hello,
ok so i just put in a new battery not but about a week ago..and i havent cranked it or anything except once..at first we thought the stereo was draining the battery so i didnt hook it back up..i swithced the battery terminal things..first i turned on the fan..when i went to crank it..the battery all of a sudden died..what is the problem?? can it be fixed and how much would it cost??

can u give more info? are u possibly leaving the dome light on? did u change out the alternator? if not sounds like a short and they are extrememly hard to locate.

the dome light stays off when i close the door..i havent changed the altanator..but since im never driving the car it shouldnt drain the battery should it??

what do your volts read before you try and start it? should be right around 12... if not, just a do a quick check on your connections and terminals, make sure everything is tight, could just be a poor connection.

thanx..ill go check the connection right now..i cant tell how many volts show right now..cuz the battery acts like its dead..

A bad alternator is sometimes notorious for draining batteries. something you might want to check

Is the battery dead or maybe your starter. If you had a weak battery before it is possible it killed the starter. When you hook up the battery (while it has a good charge) and you see a big spark as you touch the last terminal to the battery you have a drain going on somewhere.

Found out it was just a bad connection..everythings goin good now..thanxx everyone for your help
