Default V6 to V8 swap

Hi, I'm new here. My dad has a 1980 Z28 with a 350 in it. It has sat and the surface of the vehicle is fairly rusted and bad looking. I found a 1980 camaro that is in fairly good shape for a 30 year old car. No rust, paint is faded and chipped but no rust. The Camaro I found was originally a V6, then the guy put a 305 in it. I showed him and he seems interested in getting up under the hood of a camaro again.

I'm new to working on cars and learning as much as I can. I enjoy it, taking what you learn and fixing problems to make a vehicle work, I love it. I have never worked on anything like a camaro, heck let alone a chevy. I've worked on some ford escorts with him, but mostly jeeps. So I am not very knowledgable when it comes to vehicles, but I'm learning.

I was wondering since the camaro I found was originally a v6, is the engine compartment set up different than a z-28's engine compartment? Like routing of hoses (heater, ac, vacuum, ect.), wiring, and locations of things. Thats what I'm concerned about, because I know on the late 80's jeeps we have, a 4 banger and a 6 will have a different set up, like radiator and fan is shifted over on the 6 cyl, windshield fluid is on other side of vehicle, and wiring, vacuum lines, radiator hoses are shifted around differently.

So how much of a difference is there between a Z-28's engine bay and a v-6's engine bay? If they are different, will it be a hard swap?

Thanks for reading, I will look forward to all your advice and tips.

Welcome aboard, It's not a hard swap at all, the rad is a diff. size for the smaller engines but it should be a pretty easy swap (nothing like jeeps). You came to a good place, good bunch of folks here. Post some pics
