timing. 305 77 camaro
First off thank you to everyone who helped me with the flooding issue. Now i have another problem. My distributor cap had a post break so i got another one and replaced it. I manually cranked my engine to top dead center (runs at 8 degrees BTDC). Took a long screw driver and turned oil pump so rotor would line up on post on new cap. Now i can't seem to get the dang engine timed again. But it does turn over and run for about a second and a half. If you got any suggestions for setting the timing feel free to tell me. Any knowledge is more than mine. This is also my daily driver, so it is extremely important to have this thing running sunday night. Thanks again!

Why did you pull the dizzy just to change a cap?
Anyway,TDC on what cylinder? #1? and if so are you sure it was compression stroke?
Are you sure you haven't crossed any wires?wish I had a dollar for every time I'd sworn I had them all in the right place and didn't lol.

wires are all in right spot. carb is tuned. top dead on #1. and as far as compression goes it looks like neither the intake or exhaust valve is open when im doing it. unless the difference is minimal in position so i can hardly notice it. but i will keep trying it. and to answer your question y2k, i dont know. i really messed up when i pulled it. ive kicked myself in the butt for doing it.
