Default Strange noise

I have a 1980 z28 and the other day when i was driving i heard a weird noise anytime i let off the gas...it sounded like a spinning/ratteling type of noise... I noticed it mostly in 4th gear but sometimes in 1-3 as well... Could this be my flywheel going? And if so, is it recommended that i replace the clutch along with it? Any help would be great!
Thanks guys!!
Mike

Is it rattling the shifter? Then every time you get back in the throttle the shifter moves and the noise goes away?

No the shifter just vibrates like it normally does.. Has no change during this ratteling noise nor is it affected when i get back on the throttle

IF pushing IN the clutch makes it stop then it might be Throw out bearing

Form what I'm gettin here, It's probably just gear chatter in the trans, mine dose that. It could also be a bearing issue in the rear differential. It's common for the sound to travel through the drive shaft making it sound as though it's coming from the trans, it sound odd but it dose happen, believe me. If it were a flywheel problem, there would be some vibration and clutch function issues associated with it. nscfn8, you're not really complaining of a vibration, judging from your posts, are you?
