So my air filter won't fit my carb
I bought a new Holley 600 carb and a 14" Edelbrock air filter (maybe I shoulda stuck with one brand?). The air filter is the right size and everything, but it doesn't clear the fuel line on the carb. It won't sit flush. Seems like a stupid problem that some designer should have noticed. I'm not sure what I should do. At first I wanted to have the filter housing modified so there was like a little "notch" melted in the metal for the fuel line to pass through. Maybe it's easier just to buy a new filter?
Another thing I was wondering... my carb didn't bolt up to the stock intake manifold so I had to use a spacer. It's probably 3/4 or 1" (I'd have to look, it's been awhile). It seems like it's going to be a very tight fit to clear the hood. I'm afraid that once I put the filter on, I won't have enough space. Does anyone think I'll have problems fitting a Holley carb, spacer, and 14" filter under a stock Z28 hood? And if so, what is the solution? New intake manifold? Smaller filter?
Thanks for reading,
Matt
EDIT: What is going on with the quotation marks? I edited and tried to fix them all, but when I reposted it was the same as before.
