I don't push my 67 very hard but it drives nice and friendly at the low RPMs. I might tweak it someday but I don't think I could get it much better without a Dyno.

Yes you can use a 3/8 bolt in the end of the hose and a clamp around it, or get fancy and remove the hose back to hard line and get a cap for the end of the line.
Summit has a pretty reasonably priced carb also, and a couple friends have them and like them a lot. Only offered in a 600cfm, and $235:

I don't know what your car has, but make sure you have a vented gas cap if you go corking off the canister vent return line. Previous non-canistered models (like mine) have a vented gas cap (vents in only, not out). If it's not vented, the inside of the tank will become a vacuum and gas will eventually stop flowing.

I'm not a fan. Haven't had good performance with the one's I've had, but that was only two of them and I gave up. Holley for my vehicles.

scrap the Edelbrock idea , actually just picked up a Quadrajet for 45 bucks, came off a running 350, before i picked it up guy said it was an electric choke, when i got there i see the heat riser setup, grabbed it anyway. should i keep the hot air choke or convert it to electric if even possible?

Looks like the intake has the heat port for that setup, so I'd keep it as is if you can get the little sheetmetal part to enclose/attach it to the intake.

If you want to, converting your choke to electric is easy. You just have to remove the existing wind-up coil (the round black thing), and replace with an electric unit.
