youd have to rewire the whole ignition system into switches for power... well you have an older car so maybe it wouldnt be too bad

Your ignition lock cylinder might need to be replaced. Could also be the switch itself is jammed, so you could disconnect it to test. There is a rod that connects the key tumbler to the switch, which is located on top of the steering column near the firewall. Or.....could be the shifter interlock is goofed up. In the engine compartment, look at the steering column. You should see an arm sticking out and has shifter linkage connected to it, unless its been removed. Pull up on that arm as far as you can. If the arm is dropped, the key won't turn. I'd actually check that first.

Yes, even if it's a manual. On the steering column, between the key and dash, is a collar about three inches long. That collar rotates when the shift linkage moves that arm in the engine compartment, and that's what interlocks your tumbler to both prevent the key from turning all the way on or off if it's in gear. Try grabbing that collar with both hands and make sure it's turned all the way counter-clockwise. Otherwise, I'd say you're going to need to replace the key tumbler.

Lol. I pulled my entire dash apart, and I tweak that collar to the left and oila.
