Default Heat Wrapping Starter

Hi Guys,

I have an 81 with a 94 truck 350 in it. It intermittently has the hot start problems so I took out the starter to wrap it in ceramic header wrap. Do I want to wrap the smaller canister which seems to have the electric stuff in it, or the larger canister with the gears in it? Thanks.

You may have been better off by just installing an aluminum heat shield made for that purpose. My experience with header wrap is that it encourages rust, and you really don't want a rusted up starter.

Ok thanks, I'll get the Mr. Gasket heat shield instead then.
