Electric choke prob
Hey guys, Im having trouble with my choke on the Q-jet (81 camaro). I tried two carbs, and both nothing. Im useing a power source of 12V running and 0V when the car is shut off. I hooked it up to the choke on the first carb and the oil presure light came on and the choke never kicked down. i kicked it down manually but when i give gas it revs high again. Same thing happend with this carb but no light this time, is it possible im doing something wrong or is both my chokes screwed? also, this carb has a loud air hissing noise louder than the other one (same rochester carbs).
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Joe

Anybody? is there a way i can test the choke to see if it's functioning at all? And that air noise is really sickening, i have it hooked up the same as the other and it wasn't that loud.

You need to verify where you are getting power from as it might be a high resitance source. With the key ON check and the choke wires connected, check the voltage where the wire connects to choke. If it is less than 13 Volt, then yoy have to find a clean source. Or, connect the choke directly to battery and see if it opens.

I dealt with this
I switched from the hot air choke to elec on my Z. There was no switched ign. source for the choke, I forgot that the charge signal wire voltage varies and the choke never warmed. I had to tap the ign coil lead and build a circuit into the existing harness to make it look factory. works like a charm with no problems.

Thanks guys, i'm gonna try it out tomorrow again. the wire i am using is a green wire that was just there (taped) live, i looked at a diagram and it shows thats the proper wire (oil pressure) to my understanding.
