Unhappy 80 RS New headers and valve gasket now backfires

Recently I was recruited to install headers on my friends 1980 RS. During the process we took out the A/C and checked the gaskets on the valve covers because of an oil leak that seemed to come from there. Also checked the plugs, wires, and cap. Everything is back together and now there is a single pop on the passenger side exhaust (dual 2" pipe with h pipe and cherry bombs, and it purrs nice). I am thinking that we may have put the wires back together in the wrong order or that a plug got messed up during the install. Any information would be great as I am handy with a wrench but a little in experienced when it comes to trouble shooting.
Thanks for your time.

i normally pull a wire from the cap till i find the culprit. A timing light (induction) clipped to each wire one then another will show an irregular flash with a bad plug or wire. Check your wires if they are not high po heat resistant. They tend to short against headers.
