most are cable linkage .Can you post a picture? I have had both Headman and Hooker headers with no issues on my 1979 Z-28 RS Camaro .When it was an automatic car.I have used both my stock shifter and linkage ,And a B &M Quicksilver. You might have to modify your header to fit .Or check with businesses such as Lokar.

I have the same arrangement on a 79 Z-28. The instructions with the Patriot headers specify that you must remove the shifter crosslinkage to install the headers. This will disconnect your console shifter from the steering column, and you wouldn't have a locking transmission linkage anymore. It won't lock in Park anymore after cross linkage removal. I was okay with that as my Z-28 lives in my garage 99.9% of the time.

My old Cyclone headers didn't require this, and were installed on the Z-28 for 34 years or so. The Patriots are definitely better headers, though!

no no get a b and m PRO stick with cover and mine came with a cable . this converts it to cable shift and LOCKS transmission in every position until you move it and has a reverse lockout for safety. this shifter is the ultimate shifter and saves transmissions from premature failure and gives you complete control. your transmission works the same to however you have it configured. Its safety and usage surpasses all other shifters in my opinion. but that's just my car. it came with a shift on column as well.it was a Canadian Xperimental z28.
PS a super heavy duty truck cable is also available it is very thick it is what iuse although mine came with a very heavy duty cable as it was but the heavier duty truck cable is even more heavy duty. you wouldn't ever need it, its the way ido things.
