Default 4L60E Shift Cable Problems

So I'm working on putting my car back together after swapping out the motor. Somewhere in the process of taking it apart and putting it back together, I managed to break my shift cable. I bought this replacement:

Amazon.com: ACDelco 12558306 Automatic Transmission Range Selector Lever Cable Kit: Automotive Amazon.com: ACDelco 12558306 Automatic Transmission Range Selector Lever Cable Kit: Automotive

I installed it, but it still isn't shifting properly. When I shift the lever into park, the lever on the transmission will not go into the park position.

I have triple- and quadruple-checked the linkage. The linkage is correct.

Any ideas as to what else could cause this?

I just went under the car and watched while somebody sat in the car and moved the lever from P-1-P. It seemed like half of the time, the gear lever on the trans didn't move with the shifter. It would shift out of park, then wouldn't move from reverse to [D], then wouldn't move from D to 2, stuff like that. It was equally screwy going from 1 back up to Park, with it ultimately failing to shift into park. Could it be possible this would be caused by the cable being the wrong length? Might have Amazon shipped me the wrong one?

Well after about an hour of freaking out, I did some more research and figured out that I needed to adjust the cable length, like this guy did:

4l60E SHIFT CABLE ADJUST? - LS1TECH

I didn't know that clip was there to adjust the cable itself. Now I know. Carry on

Quick question after you installed the shifter cable did you have to do any modifications to the shift linkage because I know the older shifter cables have a 6mm ball at the end and the new ones have a 10mm I believe so what all did you have to do?

Holy old thread, batman! I don't remember the ball being a different size, I didn't have any issues with the new cable once I installed it.
