Default Automatic Turbo 350, slipping/clutch engaging then disengaging, spinning tires

Okay guys so I went to my mechanic to finally replace my bad transmission mount and modulator.
Easy installation, drove away happy. Remembered I needed to get my taxes done, so I turned down a backstreet, stopped at a stop sign..
Then my transmission started freaking out
it'll rev high like its in neutral, then first gear will engage and the tires will spin, then it disengages again.. over and over and over.. same thing in reverse and lower gears.
My cars stuck at the shop, theyve told me what they can do (rebuild) and an estimated price.. But they dont know the exact problem..
What the heck is going on? I can't drive the car anywhere to get it checked out anywhere else.. unless i tow it back and forth..
whats going on guys?
its a 74 camaro, 350 engine, automatic turbo 350 tranny with a shift kit
