Here's another gem from the show lol! We couldn't help ourselves, had to get a great pic to remember it by. A fully stock '93 Lumina Z34. Like I mentioned last year, Northern Michigan car shows... There was even an '87 Mustang with the ever so powerful 2.3, complete with the chrome turn down on the lonely exhaust pipe out back. Also a couple more of that Nova. So much gold flake that it would go from emerald green to a chocolate brown with the angle of the sun. Had a ZZ383 with a 671 in it too.

Love the thumbs up picture with the Lumina! We also chuckle when we see totally stock, and mundane cars sitting in a show. And then there's the ones like that who actually win a trophy, and make us wonder who's doing the judging?!
Sounds like a success if the kids enjoyed it! Took my 16 yr. old granddaughter with me to the car show/swap meet Saturday, in my little Austin. 100 mile round trip, and we had a great time! Gave her the "Best Paint" trophy the Austin won.

I wish I'd known about the car show! I'd love to have made the trip. I've got to get on the forum a lot more often! The kids must have had a great time! I'll have to get with you and plan a trip up to see the car some time soon! Congrats on your first show!

Good to see it all worked out and you had a good time. Was this air cleaner spinning around on you at all?
And yeah. that Lumina isn't a "special" car. But when was the last time you saw one that wasn't all rusted to crap...probably when they were new.

Thanks guys, fun day for sure! A lot more cars/trucks there this year which was a welcome change. A real nice '76 big bumper Camaro and quite a few first gens too. Was a bit flattering when we pulled in and parked today, had about 15 guys walk right over to talk about the engine and how great the car sounded. Just felt good to have it working again. You're right about the Lumina and all the other generic cars, the kids and I always acknowledge their condition as respectable. But nevertheless, it's still amusing to see them. The owner of the Lumina was 89 yrs old and the car had 19k on the odometer. BTW, congrats on the trophy Vall! That's great! It's ironic. The kids and I joked at one point today about what trophy we'd win, if we won anything. We settled on "goofiest paintjob" would be our prize. LOL!

No spinning on this air cleaner luckily. Still bums me out that I never really got to use the scoop, but it was never intended to be permanent. Just while the car was lacking a cowl hood is all. It was funny yesterday, I got an offset base to clear the HEI and the offset mounting stud wasn't long enough to get the wingnut on there. We had 7 minutes to get to the parts store for a coupler before they closed yesterday. We cleaned some carbon out of the Cadi for sure. Good times.

Wish you could've made it up here today Neil! Sure was a great day for a cruise wasn't it? That's actually what I wish it was today, a nice cruise along the bay, maybe up to the bridge. You're welcome anytime sir.

I guess I'd have to give the Lumina owner a pass now that you've mentioned his age! It's good he's still around and interested in cars and car shows!

Been trying to take advantage of this 3 day stint of nice, warm weather and log some miles on the Camaro. This car really does run and ride incredibly smooth for what it is. Still a little timid about WOT after recent events. Also knowing that WOT is still leaning out like crazy, I went ahead and ordered a calibration kit today. Those kits seem a bit expensive for what the contents are, or is it just me? I already bought the spring assortment for the metering rods so I'll have 2 sets of those now. Only needed the blue ones anyway. I'm going to start by going 2 jet sizes bigger and go from there. Think I'll call edelbrock and find out about a bigger accelerator pump since that really does seem to be the problem. When I adjusted the linkage to the longest plunger setting, it did improve. Just not quite enough. It would sure be nice to have the engine performing up to it's potential before the window closes on me this year.

I know that jets can be changed with the carb still on the engine. But since I've never done a jet change before I was wondering about the fuel that's in the bowls still? Does the fuel stay put when I remove the jets? Does it all drain into the intake? Just curious. The kits don't even have that many jets in them so I'm hoping there is a cure within the plastic box I just paid $60+ for. I do think I'll go with some wideband O2 sensors next year so I can run an A/F gauge to see what's going on. Thanks in advance for any insight with these jets/rods coming end of the week.

We usually have fantastic Sept. and even most of October. This year we had one of the hottest, and dry summers ever. So now it's raining outside, and looks like early winter. I miss summer already!

We've already had 2 nights with frost advisories here. I know it's coming, it ALWAYS does.

So any tips regarding the jet changes? It'll be my first time ever doing that.
