I have a small propane torpedo heater that I bought at Lowes and it does a good job of taking the chill off. I can work out in the garage in about any winter weather with it and it's not too hard on propane either.

I have 3 rear sway bars in the garage but I'm not sure which I'm going to use yet. They're all different diameters. I'll probably go with the largest as I have a really large front stabilizer bar. When I figure it out your welcome to one. I get up north quite a bit so I could drop it off or meet up.

 

Another good testimonial! I should've just picked one up today while I was in town. I'll have one by this weekend as I'm really itching to get back out there and get busy.

Appreciate the info as well as the offer on the swaybar! Mine broke in a very weird spot right up by the bushing, not sure what size it is either, but thought there were only 2 different sizes? I would welcome the opportunity to take you up on that offer though, mine doesn't appear to be one of the larger ones. Anytime you're up this way sir, I would be eternally grateful! There's some parts that I can justify spending the money on but swaybars aren't on that list - nor are a/c delete boxes.

 

Check the diameter and you can have the one you need if I have that size. I'll be up frequently this winter to ski so no problem on getting it to you. Where are you close to?

 

I would be grateful for any one that you have available really. Need to get new mounting hardware anyway. I'll check but pretty sure it's the 5/8" from the looks of it.

I can see the lights from Boyne Highlands and Nubs *** from my front yard in the winter. I'm right outside Harbor Springs/Petoskey. Ahh I know Boyne. All the rich kids in school used to collect lift passes on there coats like a status symbol. Some had 15-20. In jr high no less.

I have the free dunes here a Hoffmaster State park. The trip up would kill me now but when I was a kid you couldn't beat riding a sled down a hill at 40 mph face first. It was a good 3 min ride too. Never been on a ski slope but I can't imagine anyone on sleds. The 40 mph rides were only after nights when we had freezing rain in case anyone thinks I'm BSing the speed. It was fast enough to change the shape of the skin on your face.

 

LOL! That's a riot! Just the way you said that makes me feel like we're back in school talking about it again. I grew up in Milford area and only collected Alpine Valley passes as they were 3 miles from my house. Considering it's a recycled garbage dump, not sure about a status symbol I want to carry. I can remember the kids that you're referring to right now though - you know, the ones we used to beat up? As my friends and I got older we would sneak into Alpine at night and sled down the hills. I'm with you on the speed part. But that wasn't enough for us after we got "closer" to the age of drinking... We decided it would be more entertaining to go sledding off the BACK of the slopes! Where it was almost vertical... And pitch black... With trees...

When I was building my gasser in the Costco canopy during winter I heated the canopy well enough to work in a Tshirt and coveralls all winter and not be cold. At times it even got too warm when temps were in the high 30's to low 40's and I didn't want to stop working and shut it off.

 

I have a season pass at Schuss Mountain near Bellaire but I've been telling my wife I need to get to Nubs or Boyne Highlands to ski this season! I'll be up this weekend but to move my idiot brother-in-law from Bellaire to TC. If you check your diameter I'm sure you can have the 5/8 bar. I need to get new links for the one I do end up using too.

Val, the one I have does a decent job in my garage even when the temps get down near zero. It does take the chill off and I can work without a big thick coat on! I need an insulated door on the garage instead of the old metal one!

 

I checked and it is the 5/8" dia. bar. I have a house in Kalkaska that's about 15 min. from Schuss ironically. I know the Highlands opened a few runs this week but the weather this weekend and first part of next week is pretty warm so I don't think the snow we've got will last much longer. I have a 30000 BTU wall heater in my garage and another propane torpedo I borrow from the FIL. Its freakin cold. I have a 100# tank and the 30000 empties it in days. At times that never gets about 40*. I hear ya load and clear on the garage door. I started hanging plastic on the trusses so I can trap my heat this year. But with no time off work I havent finished it yet.


Drinking and sledding??? I have no idea what your talking about. Hoffmaster has a dune that is facing Lake Michigan. The elevation IDK but it takes 5-10 min on a sled. But its vertical to start and then tappers off to carry you all the way to the beach. The view is something to see as well. Lake Mich in the winter is a odd desolate sight.
