So the fenders and nose are done. Time to start on the hood. My custom "true fire" is going away. I have some cracks in the scoop to be repaired. I think I'll leave the flapper the same.

Have I mentioned how much fun sanding paint off is?
I got tire of sanding the hood so I jumped to the cracks. I gouged them and drilled holes at the ends. Then I epoxied them. This should hold.
If you look close you can see a skull and many spades in the fire.
I hadn't realized it before, I don't have the same paint issues in the scoop as the rest of the car. The only difference is I clear coated the scoop.
It is single stage urethane that doesn't require clear. I only cleared here because the flames are flat without clear.
HMMMM

Looking good! Hope the epoxy saves the cowl section!

Hood doesn't look so cool now! I sanded it off. Yes I hope the epoxy works. I've used it on the nose as well. Thanks all for the encouragement.

I like the flames but with one small criticism. The stencil he used seems like it was just one size circle and i can see that same circle repeat over and over again. He did a good job don't get me wrong. I see a lot of Mike LaValley wanna bees around here. Your guy blows them away. If you have ever seen Mike LaValley paint fire his stencil is more of a French curve. Keep up the work. Your kickin my but.

I have a bunch of stencils, but I think that your right that I seem to go back to the same one kinda with out realizing it.
Lavally has talent. I don't I, have drive and the BA**s to try anything.

It's still early but the plan is to paint the car red with gloss black stripes. With the 1/4 " pinstripe. I'm thinking I may put ghost flames in the stripes or old school hot rod flames just in the stripes. I was also thinking about crazy pinstripes in the stripes.
Old school LA style.

some pics of my other flame jobs.
