I'm not sure what dizzy you have but I have run a 6AL on my stock HEI. There are a few way to do it. Use a MSD in cap coil or the HEI kit I bought that had a cap that went over the old spot for the coil This let me plug in a blaster 2 coil. The 6Al goes in place of the stock ignition module. I belive the purple and green wires get spliced to the plug that went to the module. Those then run to the MSD then the MSD fires the coil accordingly.

Glad to see your starting on the car again, mine has been neglected too.

To be perfectly honest everything you said is complete gibberish to me. That just goes to show my vast knowledge of ignitions. The picture of what i have is below, i have the red one thats in the picture. Im gonna use to google tool and see if i cant find a wiring diagram.

Thanks for the help, sorry i cant help with the exhaust question on your thread.

Wow, i shoulda googled before i asked, sorry to waste peoples time

Lots of info out there and lots of people saying dont use the two together. I personally and going to use it as i like the rev limiter it has. Cant trust myself to watch the tach while manual shifting all the time.

Here's the PDF file. I think around page 13-14 covers the hookup for your distributor:

After spending a couple hours googling and searching, im wondering if i shouldnt just buy the MSD electronic coil module with the programmable rev limiter and be done with the msd box.

I will have a look at it when i get home and see what im working with now that i have some instructions

Its easy. Like I said you bypass the module with the box. Then I ran this guy here with the MSD coil. Its less than $40.

The 6AL gives you a couple nice features, and I'd use it! Not only the rev limiter, but the multiple spark below 2500 rpm. They're really simple to wire with the instructions, and you'll like how they help your engine perform.

Here is my 6Al testament. My 86 2x4 had a Holley that the secondary needle would ALWAYS hang up and start flooding my motor. I replaced it about three times before selling the carb because I could never figure it out. Anyhow. One hot summer day I was out in the country when the thing started to dump gas. good news is I could drive 80-100mph to use all the gas. When I rolled in to see what the deal was I could see fuel coming out of the secondary vent tube. I'm positive that the MSD was the reason the motor fired with that much fuel going in. It got me home. I pretty much killed that motor by washing the oil off the cylinders and thinning the oil. Never once did I get stuck with a flooded motor though.
